As the hottest June I can remember comes to a close, water temperatures are holding close to 90F! A little surprisingly, fishing has been very good at times during the early morning hours. Though the striper bite has slowed, my anglers have caught some really nice spotted bass, largemouth, and catfish. White perch are available and can be caught in large numbers. The largemouth bass and catfish are hitting live alewives, shad, perch, and bream close to the bottom in 25-40ft of water. Spotted bass are shallow at daylight, and even surface feeding in brief bursts up 'til 9:30-10:00am or so.
